Rahul Dravid is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian cricket team. He was born on January 11, 1973, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Dravid is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket and is often referred to as "The Wall" for his solid defensive technique and unflappable temperament.
Dravid made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 1996 and went on to play 164 Tests, scoring 13,288 runs at an average of 52.31, including 36 centuries and 63 half-centuries. He also played 344 One Day Internationals (ODIs), scoring 10,889 runs at an average of 39.16, including 12 centuries and 83 half-centuries.
Dravid was known for his impeccable technique, his ability to play long innings, and his leadership skills. He was appointed as the captain of the Indian cricket team in 2005 and led the team to a historic Test series win against England in 2007, their first Test series win in England in 21 years.
After retiring from international cricket in 2012, Dravid took up coaching and served as the head coach of the India A and Under-19 teams. He is currently the director of cricket operations at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, India.
