XML, or Extensible Markup Language, was not created by a single person. It was developed by a working group of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in the mid-1990s.
The group was led by Jon Bosak, a well-known computer industry figure who had previously worked for Sun Microsystems. Bosak was instrumental in creating the original XML specification, which was released in 1998.
Other key contributors to the development of XML include Tim Bray, Jean Paoli, and Michael Sperberg-McQueen.
